New Moon Day

In Claudia's words this morning at 6:33 AM just after sitting up in bed to start getting Ethan ready for school she said "It's New Moon Day."

Claudia and three of her friends are going to a midnight showing of New Moon tonight. I don't understand the excitement regarding this event. She is planning on calling the theater every few hours to check the length of the line so she can go up there early if necessary. One of her friends that is also attending the movie is going to watch our kids until I get home from work so Claudia can secure a good place in line.

This seems absolutely crazy to me. Don't get me wrong, I want to see this movie also because I have read the book series and it was entertaining. However, I have no desire to wait in line for multiple hours with a bunch of screaming teenage and middleage girls just to say I was one of the first to see the movie. I hate seeing big blockbuster movies in their opening weekend because there is always parts that are missed due to too much crowd noise from reactions to previous scenes. This is especially true in comedies due to excess laughter. I will probably go see it during Thanksgiving break while in Lafayette visiting the Alguires (looking forward to seeing you guys).

She even went out this week and bought an official New Moon t-shirt to wear to the premier and she is taking her New Moon board game (and probably her Twilight board game that I got her for her birthday) to play in line. She was planning on taking our portable DVD player to watch Twilight before the premier but she found out that the theater is showing Twilight for $5 at 9:00 PM just before the premier. They even are going to let the fans keep their seats in the theater between Twilight and New Moon.

Planning this event has been their life's work this week and I hope that everything works out as planned and they have tons of fun.

I will be at home trying to feed two picky kids and get them bathed, teeth brushed, stories read and into bed. I guess it will be good guy time with my boys.

Have fun Mommy!!

Ethan's 6th Birthday

Yesterday was Ethan's 6th Birthday. He got to wear a ribbon at school that said it was his birthday and he got to give out cookies (freshly made by me the night before) to his fellow classmates during lunch. Also, Claudia surprised him by coming to eat lunch with him and play outside during recess. He had a great day at school and was very happy.

Unfortunately we didn't get to do much in the evening for him because he had soccer practice and then we ate Jack in the Box for dinner. While at JITB, Ethan received a call from his buddy Ben who now lives in Louisiana to wish him a Happy Birthday. They get to see each other in two weeks when we go visit the Alguires for Thanksgiving.

Ethan's birthday party was last Saturday and he had a great time with his olds friends from playgroup and his new friends from school and his soccer team. They all made beautiful sand art pictures and necklaces and then enjoyed some cookie cake and Ethan opened presents. The weather was great for everyone to do their art outside on the back porch and play in the back yard. Thank you, Lord, for making it such a great day. There are a few pictures from the blessed day below.
